On Transferring

I felt really overwhelmed by the size of my previous university. But the real reason I transferred was because of all the opportunities Principia offers, not because of a terrible experience where I was. There was a lot of good there. I just realized that the things I had come to value at Principia—friendships, a strong Christian Science environment, professors that truly, deeply care—were unique to Principia and things that I couldn't really have anywhere else.

On the Feel of the Community

My transition wasn’t terribly difficult, especially from a friendship standpoint. The hardest part was adjusting to the academics and working on time management skills. Because the classes are so much smaller, there is a certain rigor to them that you wouldn't see many other places. It wasn't like the massive lectures that you could skip and no one would notice. The small size encourages you to hold yourself accountable and get much more out of each class.

As for time management, I wanted to accomplish a lot and be involved in nearly everything. I don't have the opportunity to be lazy or unproductive because I'm almost always doing something. I 爱 this aspect of Principia!

Activities I’m Involved In

I've been able to take all the courses I need (averaging 18 semester hours), join the swim team, participate in two theatre productions, have a student job, and serve in the Christian Science Organization and on my house board.

I have yet to have a professor who wasn't willing to go the extra mile, answer homework questions, or just talk about life. They truly want you to succeed, and make it a priority to help you do so, all while challenging you to grow. I have learned eons more here than I did at my previous university!

Advice for Those Considering Principia

Just like any other college or university, your experience at Principia is what you make of it. If you come here with an open mind, willing to 给予, Principia will be a beautiful place to be.
